Steve Harris

Steve, himself a four times Canoe Marathon World Champion (1994-1997), set up the Paracanoe Performance Programme in 2011, supported by UK Sport. A former soldier, sports science and teaching graduate, a GB Technical Coach and in 2009 graduating from the acclaimed UK Sport Elite Coach Programme, Steve now uses his considerable experience and knowledge as Programme Manager for the GB Paracanoe team. In their first year, Paracanoe programme athletes, who train at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham, achieved an impressive medal tally of 5 Gold and 1 Bronze, leading the medal table at the World Championships in Poznan, Poland. Similar success has followed at all major championships making the British team, led by Steve, world leaders and setting the benchmark for other countries to follow. This year (2016), all focus is on the Rio Paralympic Games which will see the inaugural inclusion of Paracanoe.
